Self-care and Wellness
During a pandemic like COVID-19, wellness and self-care are crucial for maintaining both yours and your dog’s physical and mental well-being. But social distancing complicates things. How are you supposed to stay healthy and promote wellness and self-care with so many restrictions in place? How can you and your dog exercise properly when you’re cooped up at home? How can you sleep when you’re anxious about, well, everything?
Let’s face it life isn’t normal at the moment. Will normality ever return? Perhaps not. The K9 Nation pack are addressing and promoting self-care as our key focus for the rest of this year.
The health and wellbeing of both our community and our dogs are a key guiding principle for our work and stated core values.

We want to support our K9 Nation community by developing and delivering informative and educational content, blogs, articles, videos and podcasts, giving you the best recommendations and advice on how to maintain wellness and self-care for you and your dog. We want to help our community and those who may be struggling with mental health or physical issues because of the pandemic, and provide valuable advice on how you can support your own wellness and self-care, and how your beloved dogs and pets can help too.
We have recently seen a huge rise in the number of people buying dogs and puppies and puppy prices have skyrocketed over the last 6 months because of the demand. Due to the ongoing Covid 19 crisis, it seems likely many people have purchased puppies, or dogs, over the lockdown period. As lockdown is loosening and many are returning to work in an office, some may be struggling to cope with their new puppy or dog.
In order to support new lockdown dog owners, we want to offer advice and guidance to try and help reduce the number of dogs that could end up in shelters and rescue centres. Our hope is that if new dog owners get the advice and support they need, they will find it easier to return to work and continue to provide great care for their dogs. We want to help reduce the stress on dogs and their owners and give helpful tips on how to cope with separation anxiety and introduce enjoyable health and training mechanisms.
We are delighted to be relaunching the K9 Nation app in October 2020. The new version will have new features, great user experience and most importantly new ambassadors and experts in dog-related subjects.
The app will also have new features to support dog-related businesses. Many dog businesses have been affected by Covid 19, and the K9 Nation pack wants to support those businesses by providing a platform to market and sell their products and services to the dog owner community.
Many business owners need support to get back up and running so we are keen to ensure that the K9 Nation app is the best and biggest meeting place for businesses and potential customers.

Our wellness and self-care campaign is only a small portion of what K9 Nation aims to do over the course of the next few months, and we are deeply committed to supporting dog owners and the wider dog community with advice, support and recommendations across a number of areas. What’s more, we don’t plan to do this alone, we want like-minded individuals to join us and become a part of the K9 Nation pack by becoming a K9 Nation Ambassador. If you’re a dog owner and want to tell us about your walks and dog-friendly places to visit, or an expert or professional in a specific area such as dog behaviour, training or healthcare etc – we want to hear from you!
We hope you enjoy our K9 Nation cares campaign over the next few months and find it useful. Please feel free to share any of our resources, articles or blogs with other dog owners if you think they might find them helpful because as we all know… sharing is caring!
